Plaquette v2024.6 released with support for qLDPC codes
Quantum low-density parity-check (qLDPC) codes are promising in their efficiency of encoding more logical information in the same number of physical qubits.
Designing qLDPC-based architectures requires understanding different families of qLDPC codes under the specific noise properties of real-world hardware. Plaquette v2024.6 now supports the construction and simulation of quantum LDPC codes, offering an easy-to-use pipeline for the full simulation under the broadest variety of hardware error models.
What’s new with this release:
New functionality that allows the straightforward generation of several families of qLDPC codes including important codes from recent literature on the topic such as hypergraph product codes, bivariate bicycle codes, and generalised bicycle codes.
Automatic compilation of the user-defined qLDPC codes into a circuit.
Introduction of the BP-OSD decoder that can exploit the full connectivity of qLDPC codes to provide lower error rates than the standard MWPM-like decoders.
The new features also include a new user-friendly and highly customizable plotting functions, the possibility to conveniently save and load threshold data to disk in a JSON format, and an extensive documentation on qLDPC codes with a focus on hardware aspects.
With this update, we make it easy for our customers to quickly get an overview of the topic of qLDPC codes to start simulating them independently, and much more!
